A friend recently let me know about a few upcoming talks at Stamford Hospital that I thought might be on interest to some of you who are concerned about your baby's development. These talks are sponsored by The United Way of New Canaan and The Tiny Miracles Foundation, an organization for families with preemies, but they are open to any parent.
Nutritional Needs of Premature Babies, March 25, 2008 7:30pm (Speaker: Michileen Kang, RD, CDN) She will cover proper nutrition to stimulate weight gain and help babies thrive through their nutritional needs.
Coping After a Premature Birth, April 29, 2008 7:30pm (Speaker: Anne D'Elia, LCSW) She will discuss the emotional rollercoaster parents experience when having a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit
Understanding Sensory Integration Dysfunction, May 27, 2008 7:30pm (Speaker: Rae Suba, OTR/L, Pediatric Occupational Therapist)
Helping Your Preemie Through Massage, June 24, 2008 7:30pm (Speaker: Lisa Mecca) She will demonstrate ways massage can help parents bond, decrease gas, colic, constipation and congestion.
