Robots Invade the Bruce Museum this Saturday, January 26th

I'd like this to be an equal opportunity web site, and that's why I'm shining the spotlight today on robots, of all things. As much as I love to write about activities involving nature and the outdoors, I realize it's January in New England, and you need some fun indoor activities to do with your kids.

The Bruce Museum's new Robotics exhibition opens this Saturday, January 26th. It explores the science and mystery behind robots in a fun environment. Kids are invited to explore the interactive arena with 13 displays that demonstrate the essential elements of any robot – sensing, thinking, and acting.

Not that I know who any of these characters are, but apparently kids can also meet the eight-foot Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet and the ten-foot tall Optimus Prime from the Transformers movie. More than 35 robot toys are also on view -- from classics like Mr. Mercury, Zoomer, and Attacking Martian to recent additions such as Hasbro’s FurReal Friends, Pepsi Japan’s NEX BOY, Sony’s AIBO, and Transformer’s Bumblebee.

For more information visit www.brucemuseum.org/ and stay tuned for more information from me about the Bruce Museum's February vacation activities for kids and all other family-friendly events. The Robotics exhibition runs until April 20, 2008. Photo above courtesy of Bruce Museum.
