I like Valentine's Day because it's an excuse to buy some new lingerie! And I have happy memories of giving and receiving Valentines as a kid.

I'm mega-pregnant so I'm all about the valentine's chocolates this year! I do love it, though, because it's nice to have a day that's all about me & my husband (and not the kids) at least one day a year!!! I love your site - thanks for the great giveaway!

I like VDay because it's a reminder of what's really important - my man and our marriage. I Don't like the hallmark bs that exists. I don't need flowers or chocolate. I just need uninterrupted time to connect with him.

Now that my kids are in school, I enjoy seeing Valentine's Day through their eyes and the fun they have exchanging little valentines. So cute!

My husband and I have a running Valentines joke where we each buy the other the most cheesy "lingerie" we can find. This year he's getting a red satin man-thong with a black tiger printed you-know-where!!! Grrrr!!! :)

I'm a VDay lover. I like to cook so this year I'm getting a sitter and me & my husband can have a romantic home-made dinner while the kids play upstairs.

I'm not a huge fan, I'd rather spontaneously have a romantic night out than have to hassle with restaurant reservations on a busy night when everyone else is doing the same.

I'm a Valentine's Day lover. My husband and I make sure on that day to tell each other how much we appreciate each other, with every day responsibilities sometimes you just over look it! And I LOVE chocolate!!!

I love Valentine's day. Just a reminder to slow down, enjoy life with the one you love. And the roses and chocolates are a bonus.

I am all for roses and chocolate, but the fact that the prices skyrocket for that one day turns me away. I would rather celebrate our love on a quieter, less commerical, more economical day!!

I think Valentine's day is wasted on me- I don't like flowers or cards that are mass-produced, and M&Ms are truly my favorite chocolate! But my husband always knows that a good bottle of Veuve Cliquot can go a long, long way!

I like Valentine's Day more now than I ever have. Since having a little boy it is sweet to get his little goodies from school and to see him take in all the red pink and decorations. I also like it to try and sneak away somewhere with my hubby.. although not this year since I am on bedrest!

I love valentines day because in times of wealth we can have amazing, memorable, romantic dinners in the city, but in tough economic times, we can still use the occasion to genuinely express our love for each other and for our new precious daughter.

I have become a fan of Valentines Day ever since my son was born. It's a great way to show him how much his parents love him and each other!

Celebrating love just because the calendar says so seems a bit superficial, but it's still nice to carve out some quality time with the hubby.

Not so much. I feel more appreciated when I get hugs and kisses every day.

I love making a fancy (fancier than usual) Valentine's dinner. It's an occasion to be fancy at home.

I've never been a lover of V'Day. But now that my hubby and I live in Toddlerville and don't go out alone much, it's def a wake-up call to make some meaningful one-on-one time happen. I guess you could say I'm a convert. - Nicola, New Canaan

I dig it. I'm going to dig it even more now that I have the love of my life to share some quality time with...that would be my 18-month old daughter. It's going to be a Mommy, Daddy, Alexandra day all day long with tons of extra hugs and kisses!

I'm not a fan. I don't like being told when to tell someone I love them. That being said - I'm also a sellout and bought the cutest little princess items for my daughter and a sweet treat for the hubby to show I care - yet again! :)

I love Valentine's Day - my husband and I always use it as an excuse to have a nice date and eat somewhere we have wanted to treat ourselves to. Didn't really celebrate last year since we had a 2 month old on our hands, but will likely leave her with a sitter this year!

Anonymous said...

I like Valentine's day because, it gives me another day to celebrate and feel special like we celebrate - birthday and anniversary. And I am a romantic person, I like to plan a special romantic surprise for my husband.

I love Valentines Day as an excuse to cook a really nice dinner and share a bottle of wine with my hubby, a great chocolate desert of course! Hated waiting by the mailbox as a kid though!

I think I'm mostly a hater, while secretly a lover. Overpriced restaurants, poor service, babysitter challenges and often sick kids make it a tough night to enjoy. Even a home celebration means shopping, cooking and cleanup. But when my husband manages to find me an exquisite chocolate treat served up with a special wine or cocktail all my grinchies melt away. Maybe I really am a lover!

pporow said...

I love Valentine's Day because it's my birthday! It's nice to have my birthday on such a "sweet" day. Although sometimes it stinks to share the day with the whole world. Luckily the chocolate makes up for it!

Outwardly I hate the overpriced restaurants, bad service, babysitter challenges, and usually sick kids, but secretly I LOVE the special chocolate and magic cocktail my husband concocts for me. Grown-up treats that melt all those grinchy feelings away!

I wish i could say i loved Valentine's Day..i really do. I truly do love the feeling of "love".
But the pressure to feel love, find love, have love is so great on this one day. And i hate to see those without feel like outcasts.

So this year I am choosing to use this Feb 14th to celebrate the love of my family, my sweet 3 year old son, my understanding husband, and my amazing friends. No box of chocolates, no dozen roses, no sexy things (okay i always love that anyway). No Hallmark way but my way!

I always said that if i could capture "love" in a bottle i would be one lucky chick and the world would be overflowing with bliss!

So go celebrate or don't celebrate. This year lets just count our blessings and that we have someone in our lives to say "i love you" too.

Gotta love LOVE!

I don't like Valentine's Day because it is way too commercial. I'm all for chocolate, flowers, sweets, and appreciating those in your life but really don't like the pressure to do so on a specific day (just try making a restaurant reservation this weekend!). My husband and I made a pact 15 years ago that we'd celebrate throughout the year and boycott V-Day. Neither of us has ever regretted it!

I think Valentine's Day is a fun bonus day! Everyone should do sweet things and give bonus kisses whenever they can, but why not have an extra day where everyone is trying their best to make the people important in their life feel special!

I like Valentine's Day because I remember how special my mother made it for me when I was a little girl. My brother and I would receive a special gift (red hot candies or chocolates) ... I now do this same tradition with my own daughter + make special valentine cookies for her class!
