Can You Recommend a Good Pediatric Dentist in Fairfield County? + FREE Dental Screenings Next Friday at Stepping Stones

Today I read this article in the New York Times about a new law in Massachusetts that makes toothbrushing mandatory in preschools if kids attend for more than four hours per day. I'm all for good oral hygeine but that seems like a little much. What's next? Baths and toenail clipping after snacktime? Anyway, it got me thinking about two things.

A) I really need to get my kid to the dentist. If you know of a good pediatric place in Fairfield County, please post it below. The one place that was recommended to me doesn't take insurance and the first visit is almost $200! Thanks for any recommendations you can offer.

B) In the meantime,  I hear that Stepping Stones Museum in Norwalk is offering FREE dental screenings to kids next Friday, February 5th from 1-5pm. It's part of Give a Kid a Smile Day and kids will receive a free toothbrush and a complete report about their dental health. Click here for all the details.

Dr. Wolfman and his partner Dr. T (that's who we see) at Dentistry for Children in Norwalk are great. They don't take insurance and charge $150 for routine cleanings (but my insurance company reimburses after the fact), but they are really amazing. They fit us in when we had a dental emergency--before we were patients--and have always made my son feel incredibly comfortable.

I really like Dr. Lee at The Tooth Fairy, in Ridgefield! The facility is really fun, and clean and totally inviting. My daughter loves the little kids waiting room, with books and tree-house walls.

My daughter (3) who had two fillings the first time she met him...well she doesn't like him so much. heh.

We also go to Dr. Wolfman (that's who we see) and his partner Dr. T at Dentistry for Children in Norwalk. The staff is supernice and they also treat children with special needs. It is really easy to get to from 95 (exit 16)
my kids love going! (how wierd is that)

I'm so glad you posted this Meg. My 6 year old has sever anxiety about going to the dentist. We have been to 3 who have been unable to get him to relax. He screams and cries... it's very heartbreaking. In the meantime we have a cavity that is in need of being taken care of. I'm not for knocking children out but after witnessing his reaction each time even the dentists have said it's the only option. Anyone have any experiene with this ?

We see Dr. Wolfman and we LOVE him. My three year old hates going to dentists and doctors. They asked about it in advance and took los of time to make her comfortable before they ever layed a hand on her. Now she is happy to go and visit the dentist.

We don't have dental insurance, so the no insurance isn't really an issue for us either way. Most insurance plans will reimburse you after the fact, but maybe not for the full amount??? I will say that I found his rate very reasonable ($160) and he didn't try to "upsell" us. For example, my six year old had a visit and he said her teeth looked so good that he didn't see any reason to expose her to dental x-rays at this point in time. I recommend his practice whole-heartidly.

I just found out about this new office in Darien. Darien Pediatric Dentistry. They had an open house on Sunday. Dr.Kate seems really nice. The office is beautiful. They take most insurance plans, are in network with a couple of them. She said new patients get 50% off the exam, Xrays and cleaning.
I am planning to take my 4 and 7 yaer olds there. 203-202-7728.

Children also need for their teeth to be cared for. In fact, the moment children develop their teeth, parents should think about taking their children to children's dentists to assess their teeth and also administer proper care to them.

Thanks for sharing such a useful information. In Fairfield County, it is very difficult to find the right dentist or dental surgeon. You make everyone's task very easy.
